Update: First DePuy Hip Trial Is A Win For Plaintiffs

In a development that bodes well for countless other people in a similar position, the plaintiff in the first trial over DePuy's ASR hip replacement systems has won a large jury verdict. The Los Angeles jury awarded $3.8 million to this plaintiff today - an indication that other recipient's of the DePuy ASR implants are also entitled to compensation.

Meningitis Outbreak Continues, More Drugs May Be Contaminated

The fungal meningitis outbreak has taken the nation by surprise and it shows no signs of slowing. As of this week, contaminated steroid treatments have sickened nearly 250 people and 19 of those cases were fatal. These numbers will become outdated quickly as states report more cases every day.

Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon unit announced that it would discontinue sales of four types of defective medical products. Ethicon's vaginal mesh product has been linked to many personal injuries and wrongful deaths. Over 600 lawsuits have been filed in connection with vaginal mesh implants which have severely injured patients.
