Melissa Wen for Reuters reports that California regulators have "green-lighted" VW's plan to fill the state with clean vehicle infrastructure - installing charging stations and helping to build out ride sharing - to make amends for its misdeeds over the emissions scandal that broke in Sept. 2015.

In yet another chapter in the VW emissions saga, the New York Times reports that the FBI has arrested Volkswagen executive Oliver Schmidt, who was the chief emissions compliance officer for VW in the U.S. Schmidt has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the U.S. The Times characterizes Schmidt's arrest as an "escalation" of the criminal investigation against VW.
"For years Volkswagen's ads touted the company's 'Clean Diesel' cars even though it now appears Volkswagen rigged the cars with devices designed to defeat emissions tests."
