A medical malpractice lawsuit is not something that anybody looks forward to. Those who find themselves in this position have been injured due to the negligence of a medical professional.
Our California readers may not spend much time in Massachusetts, but a recent medical malpractice case out of this state is well worth paying attention to.
A Lowell couple was recently awarded at least $5 million buy a Suffolk jury that agreed that doctors at Tuft Medical Center were negligent when it came to the care of the couple's newborn child in 2004. As a result of the negligent care, the child was left with a debilitating condition.
This story goes a long way in showing how long it can take for medical malpractice lawsuits to play out. At this time, the boy is now 9 years old. The couple alleged in their lawsuit that after the boy was born prematurely, two doctors as well as a nurse practitioner failed to take the necessary steps to fight against symptoms associated with premature infants.
Due to the negligence of these medical professionals, part of the boy's intestines had to be removed. As a result, he now suffers from a condition that makes it impossible for him to digest food, thus requiring tube feeding and additional treatment.
It took nine years for this medical malpractice case to finally make its way through the court system. Anybody who feels that they or a loved one has been the victim of negligent medical treatment should contact an experienced personal injury attorney immediately.
