Riverside Street Race Accident Critically Injures Five-Year-Old

For some, the allure of street racing makes it hard to think about the potential consequences. Yet, the consequences caused by excessive speed and reckless driving can be tragic. Earlier this week, a five-year-old girl was critically injured when a Ford Mustang smashed into her car in Riverside, California.

According to witnesses, it appeared the Mustang was racing an Acura Integra. After the car accident, the Mustang driver stopped his car, got out briefly and then left the scene of the accident. Police believe the Mustang was reported stolen before the car accident. They have yet to find the driver.

That means that the family of the injured girl must not only worry about her health; they must also face the frustration and anger that comes with knowing the person that injured their daughter doesn't care enough to step forward and apologize.

We can only hope that the driver is found so that the family can bring a personal injury lawsuit against him to recover compensation for their daughter's injuries and future medical care. If the driver remains at large, the family will need to turn to their own uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance to recover the money they need to move forward. Our hearts go out to this family and every family that is going through a similar situation.
