California Highway Patrol investigators continue to examine the finer details of a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 152 that killed one person and injured many others. According to reports, the truck driver collided into eight vehicles that were stopped on the highway, not only leading to multiple injuries and a death, but also causing the roadway to be closed for an extended period of time.
As the truck driver approached traffic backing up due to a red light, it was unable to stop in time. As a result, it struck several vehicles before making its way into oncoming traffic, at which point more vehicles were involved. In all, eight vehicles were damaged.
The driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and three other drivers were taken to local hospitals for the treatment of injuries.
The California Highway Patrol noted that the 48-year-old driver of the truck did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. He was treated for injuries, however, he was not arrested or cited by police, as of yet, for his involvement in the collision.
This type of truck accident is extremely dangerous, as traffic was stopped and a big rig smashed into unsuspecting vehicles from behind. In this case, the speed of the truck, combined with its size, almost always leads to injuries or death. For the family of the deceased, as well as those who were injured, it is time to focus on receiving the appropriate treatment and deciding how to move forward with the future.
