Driving on California roads can seem like a perilous task at times as most roads in the state are continuously busy. This does not make for ideal driving conditions, and the probability of being involved in a car accident tends to increase with higher amounts of traffic. While many accidents that occur result in minor fender benders, sadly, there are those that have more tragic results.
Near the end of January, a multi-vehicle accident on a local highway near Laguna Beach resulted in injuries to several people and death to one. Apparently, it all started when a northbound driver crashed into a vehicle that was already in his lane of traffic. After the initial crash, he then swerved into the southbound lanes and collided with other vehicles. The driver deemed responsible for this accident was transported to the hospital for treatment; sadly, a passenger in his car was killed in the collision. It is unknown if any citations or charges have been filed against this individual.
Four people in the other cars struck in this incident were taken to a local medical center for treatment of injuries suffered. Their injuries were reported to be anywhere from minor to severe. Current conditions of the victims have not been released.
A car accident can cause a significant physical and financial strain on the victims. Those injured in this case may be able to seek financial restitution to recoup the monetary losses they have endured as a result. The family of the deceased passenger may be able to file a wrongful death suit. If the driver responsible is held liable for the accident, a California civil court could award financial compensation to the injured victims and to the deceased victim's family, which could lessen their financial burden and assist with their emotional recovery.
