Weeks after the death of a hit-and-run victim in the Studio City area of Los Angeles, a $50,000 reward is to be announced Wednesday, September 4, 2013, for information leading to the 35-year-old man's killer.
The victim was killed at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 17 on Ventura Boulevard, east of Fairview Avenue, in Studio City, the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Division said.
According to authorities, the victim, who was a resident of Studio City, was crossing northbound across Ventura Boulevard when a white two-door Mercedes Benz CLS struck him.
Authorities go on to say the suspect's vehicle appeared to be new and had black paper plates with the word "Encino" written in yellow.
The Mercedes sustained major front-end damage from the collision, and witnesses say was last seen heading east on Ventura Boulevard. The victim died at the scene.
This incident is one hit-and-run auto accident among a rash of them that have recently plagued the Los Angeles area, many of which have resulted in deaths of the victims.
Those who have information regarding this case are asked to call LAPD-Valley Traffic Detectives Officer Fredo at (818) 644-8037, or Detective II Deaton at (818) 644-8035 during normal business hours.
While hit-and-run accidents have become more prevalent in our cities, what they leave for the victims who are severely injured or even killed in these events, is heart breaking. Be certain to seek the correct legal counsel if you or a loved one are the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
