While motor vehicle accidents occur everywhere, the streets of Los Angeles can be particularly dangerous due to the vast number of drivers in the area. Serious injuries and even fatalities are a possibility when a motor vehicle accident occurs. This was the unfortunate case for a number of people involved in a recent collision involving multiple vehicles and pedestrians.
In mid-July, authorities reported that a car accident in west Los Angeles that caused the death of one person and the hospitalization of three others. A report was released stating that the driver of a Ford Mustang had previously been speeding on La Cienega Boulevard where it collided with two other vehicles. This collision caused one of those vehicles to fly onto the curb and slam into the four pedestrians that were standing on the street corner. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene while the three other pedestrians were rushed to hospital in critical and serious conditions.
Investigators say the accident took place by an assisted living facility. The driver of the Mustang ran from the scene, but officers were able to locate and apprehend the driver within a short time after the accident. The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The people that were injured in this motor vehicle accident may have a long road back to recovery, and may need to take time off work. These victims may file personal injury claims against the responsible party or parties. Financial compensation may be sought after monetary losses from missing work and paying medical bills occurs. The family of the deceased may elect to file a wrongful death suit against the same party or parties. Seeking closure for the death of a loved one can sometimes relieve the stress that comes with such a tragic loss.
