Cement Truck Injures 12 Drivers, Employer Likely Liable

This week saw a serious freeway accident in Los Angeles. According to news accounts, a cement truck swerved suddenly across all four lanes of traffic as it was entering the freeway. The truck hit a van and then crashed into a center divider.

Unfortunately, however, riding on ATVs can often result in serious injuries or even death in the event of an accident. One such crash recently claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman in Sonoma County.

Lawsuits filed against Townsend Farms for hepatitis A infection

In our continuing efforts to keep readers of our blog safe, we wanted to offer an update to a post we reported on earlier this month.  As you may recall, Townsend Farms recalled a large batch of their frozen berry mix after the product tested positive for hepatitis A.  At the beginning of the month, the Centers for Disease Control had only linked the product to approximately 34 cases.  Now, only weeks later, the contaminated product has been linked to at least 99 cases of acute hepatitis A infection.

Rider dies, others injured in California motorcycle accident

A recent multi-vehicle accident that occurred near Clearlake Oaks, California proved fatal for one motorcycle rider. The fatal motorcycle accident also caused injuries to several other people and even caused a minor brush fire. According to reports, the deadly crash happened around 9 p.m. and involved several vehicles, including the motorcycle. Emergency responders arrived to the scene of the collision where Highway 20 and Catholic Church Road meet.

Costco shoppers in California were once again warned about a food-borne illness scare in another one of the store's products this month.  A recall of Townsend Farms-brand frozen berry mix was recalled after several cases of hepatitis A were linked to the product, breediing further concerns that thousands could be at risk of exposure.

Proving Distraction: What Options Do Victims Have?

Yet another distraction-related crash appears to have injured a California police officer this week. A 17-year-old driver caused a chain reaction crash that ultimately caused another car to hit a motorcycle officer. The crash threw the officer from his motorcycle and hospitalized him with serious but undisclosed injuries.

As most Californians know, it takes time for new drivers to develop the skills and judgment needed to safely operate a car. Sadly, five teenagers died in a Memorial Day crash that likely involved inexperience on the part of a 17-year-old South California driver.
