Actos Side Effects

Actos Increases the Risk of Bladder Cancer

Type 2 diabetes is not usually linked with a higher risk of bladder cancer, but patients with Type 2 diabetes have been shown to have an increased incidence of the disease. At Girardi | Keese, our attorneys are leading the effort obtain compensation for the victims of Actos who developed cancer as a result of taking the drug.

Takeda knew about potential serious Actos side effects before the drug went to market

For Takeda, it was more important to get a new drug on the market than to deal with its own scientific data about Actos side effects.

Despite growing evidence, Takeda continued to deny the risk to patients, citing the millions of patients who used the medication without apparent serious problems. For victims who developed bladder cancer or for the families of Actos users who have died as a result of taking the drug, that statement does not make sense.

In addition to causing bladder cancer, known Actos side effects include:

  • Sore throat or mouth pain
  • Nausea, vomiting or loss of appetite
  • Blurred or lost vision
  • Muscle pain and swollen joints
  • Headaches
  • Dark urine or jaundice of the skin or eyes
